The Bahamas Government is determining strategies to maximize the cruise tourism by developing the existing port at Prince George Wharf – Nassau Cruise Port. Renovation and the expansion of the port will increase the capacity and allow passengers a better experience.

With the realization of the project, it is expected to create a benefit of 16 billion US Dollars for the Bahamas over the course of 30 years. This project aims to transform the downtown area, create new jobs and add more green space in a new city center park. It will also create a lot of investment opportunities for the local businesses as the new port will bring 2 million more cruise passengers in 5 years.

As the project contractor, AZERCONS signed the contract for marine works in June 2020. After the completion of the engineering and design phases, the first pile of the project was driven in December 2020.

The project entails the EPC works for expansion of existing cruise pier, combi-wall works on Prince George Wharf, construction of two new harbors, dredging and reclaiming works and renovating/refurbishing of existing piers, and all relevant construction activities.
